Sliding and folding doors

Create adds five doors that do not swing like a wooden door: they slide into the wall or fold like an accordion. They open by hand or with redstone, pair up into double doors, and above all, placed on a train or a lift, they open on their own when it stops at a station.

Five doors

Andesite, brass, train and copper doors in a wall: they open one after the other, the two folding ones like an accordion, the two sliding ones into the wall, then close again.

Each door is shapeless: any wooden door plus the matching material, andesite, brass, copper or train casing, or framed glass. They are two blocks tall like a vanilla door and work with a right-click, no tool needed.

Sliding or folding

The same doors open: two slide, two fold

The brass, train and framed glass doors slide sideways, toward the hinge, by 13/16 of a block: the leaf goes into the next wall and only a thin edge sticks out. The andesite and copper doors fold into two leaves that turn over each other. Either way, the leaf first pops out by a thirty-second of a block, then speeds up: the motion follows the square of time.

Double doors

Two pairs of doors, train and framed glass. A wooden button on the next wall opens the whole pair, which closes again when the button pops back out.

Two identical doors side by side, with opposite hinges and facing the same way, make a double door: opening one opens the other. A redstone signal on either one powers the pair. In the loop, the wooden button powers the wall; the door touching it gets the signal, its twin follows, and both close after the button's 30 ticks (20 for a stone button).

Framed glass

A framed glass double door

The Framed Glass Door lets light and the view through: ideal for a shop window or a station platform. It has a matching Framed Glass Trapdoor, just as the Train Trapdoor goes with the train doors; both trapdoors open like vanilla trapdoors.

On a train or a lift

A door placed on a train moves with it. It only opens once the train has stopped: at a station, the station decides with its door setting (all, none, or only the doors on one side: north, east, south or west). On an elevator pulley, the contact of the arrival floor decides. When a train door opens, a platform door facing it on the same axis opens too.

Tips

Since the leaf slides into the next block, keep a solid wall on both sides: against empty space, the open door shows from the side. Villagers can open them like wooden doors. For a base door, a Redstone Link on the next wall opens it from afar.

Which one to pick

For a train, the Train Door matches the carriages' train casing. For a factory, the andesite or brass door matches the machines. For a shop or a station hall, the framed glass door shows what is inside. Folding doors need less room in the wall: their leaves stay inside the opening.

Common mistakes

Two doors that do not open together either have the same hinge side or do not face the same way: place one of them again. On a train, doors that stay shut at a station usually come from the station setting, left on « none » or on the wrong side.

Redstone control

A lever, a button, a pressure plate or a link receiver against the door, or against the block touching it, keeps it open as long as there is power. Pressure plates react to anything passing over them, players, mobs and items: handy for an automatic factory door.
