Sand Paper, Polished Rose Quartz and Precision Mechanism
Sand Paper is for polishing. In Create only one recipe depends on it, but it matters a lot: Polished Rose Quartz, which gives the Electron Tube, and the whole chain that leads to the Precision Mechanism. You polish by hand to get started, then a Deployer holds the sheet and does it alone.

Give the paper to a Deployer
Right-click the Deployer with Sand Paper in hand to give it the sheet: its hand switches to the « holding » pose. In the loop the sheet is barely visible between the fingers, just like in the game. The Deployer must be in use mode and spinning, here at 32 RPM.
Polishing on the depot
The crafting chain
Rose Quartz is shapeless: one Nether quartz and eight redstone dust. Once polished, it makes an Electron Tube with an iron sheet, a part found in the Redstone Link, the Smart Observer or the Mechanical Arm. The golden sheet, for its part, is the base of the Precision Mechanism.
The Precision Mechanism
It is a sequenced assembly: a golden sheet goes five times under three Deployers that add a cogwheel, a large cogwheel, then an iron nugget. Between loops the item is called an Incomplete Precision Mechanism. At the end, 80% of the items come out as mechanisms; the rest give back a golden sheet, andesite alloy, a cogwheel, a gold nugget, a shaft or, more rarely, an iron ingot or a clock.
Polishing by hand
Hold the Sand Paper in one hand and the item to polish in the other, then keep right-click pressed: after 32 ticks the item is polished. It also works on an item lying on the ground, within one block of where you aim and three blocks of you. Eight items per sheet: enough for the first tubes, not for a factory.
Red Sand Paper
Red Sand Paper is made with red sand instead of regular sand. It does exactly the same: same time, same recipes. Use whichever sand you have.
Scraping copper
Right-clicking an oxidised copper block removes one layer of verdigris, like an axe; on a waxed block it removes the wax. One durability per use. Handy for Create's copper tiles and shingles.
Automating it
A belt, a Deployer with paper, a funnel that refills the sheet: that is a polishing station that runs on its own. The Precision Mechanism needs a line of three Deployers over a belt, with the golden sheet looping five times.
Common mistakes
A Deployer in « punch » mode does not polish: switch it to use mode with the Wrench. Without rotation the hand does not go down. And only Rose Quartz can be polished in Create itself: other mods may add their own recipes, but nothing else reacts without them.
How much you need
One sheet polishes eight quartz. An Electron Tube takes one polished quartz, and a mechanical arm, a redstone link or a smart observer each use one tube. For a first base, two or three sheets are plenty; beyond that, a Deployer with a refilling funnel is simpler.
