Depot
The Depot is a small platform you put an item on. For Create's machines, it is a stationary piece of Mechanical Belt: anything that knows how to work on a belt also works on a depot. It serves as a manual workstation under a press, a washing station in front of a fan, or a hand-off point for a Mechanical Arm. Cheap and rotation-free, it is one of the most useful early-game blocks.

A belt that does not move

The Depot behaves like a single stopped belt segment. Items placed on it stay in the middle, and every machine that processes items on a belt recognises it: it processes the item and leaves it there. No rotation, no stress, it can go anywhere, even far away from any kinetic network.
Placing and taking back by hand

Right-click with an item in hand: the whole stack goes onto the depot. Right-click with an empty hand to take it back, together with the products. The depot also accepts items from a funnel, a chute or a belt ending against it, and a funnel on its side can empty it. A depot only holds one kind of item at a time: to switch, take the current stack back first.
A processing station

Under a Mechanical Press, the depot becomes an anvil: put ingots on it and they come back as sheets. In front of an Encased Fan blowing through water or lava, it washes or smelts items. Under a Deployer, it takes item applications (planks on a shaft, for example), and under a Spout, fluid filling: in the animation, an empty bucket put on the depot comes back full of water. Products pile up in eight slots next to the item being processed.
A hand-off point for the Mechanical Arm

The depot is the Mechanical Arm's favourite target: as an input, the arm takes whatever is put on it; as an output, it drops items there for a machine to process. A simple setup: a depot under a press, and an arm feeding it from a funnel and taking the sheets away into a second funnel.
The beginner's workstation
Early on, a depot under a press driven by a water wheel is enough to make all the iron, copper and brass sheets you need, without building an automatic line. Put a stack of ingots down, go do something else, come back for the sheets. The same goes for a depot in front of a fan and a water block to wash crushed ores.
Depot or Weighted Ejector?
The Weighted Ejector is a depot that launches its items at a target with a spring. For a simple processing station, the depot is enough and costs less; to send items from one spot to another without a belt, the ejector takes over. Machines treat both the same way.
Common mistakes
- The press will not come down: the depot must sit two blocks below the press, with one block of air in between.
- The depot will not take anything: it already holds a stack of another item, or its product slots are full.
- A funnel empties the whole depot, unprocessed items included: use a Brass Funnel filtered to the product you want.
