Spout

The Spout pours fluid onto the item placed below it. It fills bottles and buckets, and performs Create's filling recipes: honeyed apples, sweet rolls, blaze cakes… Placed above a Depot or a Mechanical Belt, it works on its own, fed by pipes.

Pouring onto the item below

A spout fed with honey fills a bottle placed on a depot, then processes the bottles of a belt one after the other.

The Spout goes above the place where items pass, with one block of gap. It pours its fluid onto the item below, provided that item can take it: an empty bottle, a bucket, or the ingredient of a filling recipe.

No hand access

The spout cannot be opened by hand

You cannot fill a Spout with a bucket, and you cannot take anything out of it by hand. Its 1,000 mB internal tank only fills through a Fluid Pipe, connected on a side or on top, never from below: that is where the nozzle is.

Feeding it through pipes

Honey tank linked to the spout through a pump

Link the Spout to a tank with pipes and a Mechanical Pump pushing towards it. The network keeps it full: each time an item is filled, the pump tops its tank back up. A slow pump is enough, since a spout only needs a quarter of a bucket per bottle.

On a Depot

A bottle on the depot becomes a honey bottle

Place an item on a Depot under the spout: the nozzle lowers, pours for 20 ticks, one second, and the item comes out filled. An empty bottle becomes a honey bottle. A Mechanical Arm can load and unload the depot.

On a Mechanical Belt

Bottles queuing on a belt under the spout

Above a Mechanical Belt, the spout stops every item passing underneath, fills it, then lets it go. The next items wait their turn. Nothing to set up: the line runs on its own. An item that cannot take the spout's fluid simply passes underneath without stopping, so mixed belts are not a problem.

An automatic line

The spout fills the bottles on the belt one by one

A belt, a spout and a tank are enough for a small honey bottle or Builder's Tea factory. Several spouts in a row over one belt apply several fluids, which is also used in Create's sequenced assembly.

What the spout can fill

A bottle or a bucket fills with any fluid: 250 mB per bottle, 1,000 mB per bucket. The spout also performs filling recipes: dirt and 500 mB of water for a Grass Block, apple and honey for a Honeyed Apple, bread and milk for a Sweet Roll, berries and chocolate for Chocolate Glazed Berries, cake base and lava for the Blaze Cake of the Blaze Burner.

Tips

If the spout does not pour, check three things: that it has fluid, that the item below accepts that fluid, and that there is exactly one block of gap. A Smart Fluid Pipe makes sure the right liquid reaches the right spout.

In sequenced assembly

Create's most advanced recipes, such as precision mechanisms, go through sequenced assembly: an item being built travels along a belt and receives several steps in a row, including hits from a Deployer, a press and a spout. The spout pours the dose the step asks for, then lets the item move on to the next machine. A belt loop with a spout, a deployer and a press is often enough to automate a whole recipe, and the spout only needs a steady fluid supply from a tank nearby.
